Central Composite Face Experimental Design Algorithm

The Central Composite Face algorithm implementation in Rezen can be considered as a hybrid or combination of the Tornado algorithm and the Plackett-Burman algorithm.

The aim of the central composite face design is to generate enough simulation decks that the objective functions defined can be modelled by second order functions (response surfaces).

As an example consider three uncertainty variables, v1,v2 and v3, each of which has low, middle and high values (or -1,0,+1 values) as shown below


The central composite face algorithm generates simulation decks whose combinations of variable values represent the following points on the above variable cube

  • the centre point 
  • the middle of the cube faces
  • the corner points of the cube
